Last year Sheriff's Call and an unnamed gelding by Aclaim both left the yard and were rehomed together by Vicki in Buckinghamshire.
Sheriff's Call had raced four times, finishing runner up once, but he wasn't enjoying being a racehorse and we decided to retire him. The Aclaim gelding didn't make it to the track as he wasn't blessed with speed, and without a racing name we knew him as 'Rory'.
Rory was a yard favourite and very sensible for such a young horse. He'd hack out in traffic without a care and we knew he'd thrive out of racing training.
Vicki initially rehomed Rory, and shortly after decided to also take Sheriff's Call to keep Rory company.
Vicki keeps in touch and this morning sent us a lovely photo of them together.
"The boys are both so relaxed and happy", says Vicki. "Riff will roll anywhere, the muddier the better. He splashes through the puddles and will wiggle his nose in them. He is such a character!"
We love to see our old friends after racing and if you have a former Mick and David Easterby-trained racehorse please do drop us a message or email and we'll feature them on our website.
