Pardon Me arrived at New House Farm in June 2020 having initially been trained by Seamus Mullins. She had one victory under her belt having won a handicap hurdle at Newton Abbot. In July 2020 Pardon Me won her first race for Mick Easterby on her second outing for the stable. She became Mick’s first ever winner at the beautiful Lakeland racecourse of Cartmel where she was ridden by Harry Bannister. |

Given a holiday over the winter of 2020 Pardon Me found a rich vein of form during the following July, winning over fences at Uttoxeter and Perth. A wonderful patient owner who would never over-race his horses, Jim gave his mare another break after five runs and she returned for another campaign in 2022. In September Pardon Me fell at the first fence at Market Rasen. Through no fault of her own she'd been badly hampered and it was a sight we didn't want to see repeated. |

It was time to switch back to the smaller obstacles as Pardon Me reverted to hurdles. Relishing the return to timber she won her next two races at her favourite track of Uttoxeter. We weren't going to go to the well too often and Parden Me was rewarded with another holiday. After a nine-month break and fully refreshed she returned for one last season. |

Market Rasen was the scene of her final career win when she ran an astounding race to land the 'Annie Gogo Memorial Handicap Hurdle' under conditional rider Patrick Wadge. Detached three hurdles from home she found a reserve tank of energy and swept past the field to score by five lengths, going away showing no signs of stopping. |

At the age of ten Pardon Me had surpassed all expectations and Jim decided to bring down the curtain on her career. It's now time for her to enjoy herself away from the racecourse with her owner as she retires sound and in fine shape. She will stand as a broodmare and hopefully in a few years time her offspring will follow her into the winners' enclosure. "She's been my biggest winner (so far) and she would not have accomplished that feat without Mick, David and their fantastic team and of course Albertine," said Jim. "I am a very proud owner today and looking forward to her offspring as well as the youngsters." Pardon Me ran 33 times, winning seven races and over £37,000 in prizemoney. |
The staff will all miss the grand chestnut mare, especially regular work rider Serena Brotherton who should take much of the credit for keeping Pardon Me in great shape on the gallops. Pardon Me will be remembered here as one of the toughest mares we've ever had the pleasure to train. We all wish her a very happy and long retirement! |
