Rehoming update: Come On Linda trail hunting

Bred by Rosyground Stud out of a winning Byron mare, this smart filly joined us in 2019. One Sunday our dear friend Linda Folwell called by for lunch and we decided to show her the filly as she was looking for another horse to run in her colours. Linda loved the grey two-year-old and looked forward to seeing her on the track.

The filly was ready for the racecourse at the end of 2019 and we asked Linda for a racing name. Linda couldn't think of a name immediately and we needed to register her before we could enter her for races. Then we had an idea.

Whenever we tried to sell Linda another horse, if there was any caution shown Mick would always say 'Come On Linda' and then explain as to why she must have the horse. And that's how the filly got her name!

Come On Linda was placed eight times from 19 starts, and was unlucky not to win having been beaten just a short head at Chelmsford on her penultimate start in October 2021.

Sadly Linda Folwell died in 2021 after a short illness. Linda loved her horses and her racing and was lucky enough to own the winners of 23 races, including horses such as Arrowtown, Magic City and Black Grass. Linda was also the original owner of Yorkshire Lady who she also proudly named.

A few weeks before she died she asked us to make sure that her racehorses all found good homes when they retired, and of course we kept to our word.

Come On Linda has loved trail hunting.

Retired from racing in the autumn of 2021 Come On Linda stood as a broodmare and had two foals before we set about finding her a good home.

Now eight-years-old, Come On Linda lives with Hayley Clarke and is enjoying life in her third career.

"She's just finished her first full season trail hunting and she loved it," said Hayley. "Roll on next season to looking and feeling this good."

"Come On Linda is having a well deserved holiday while I start lambing, but she's going to be a super smart hunter for next season."

We all wish Hayley and Come On Linda the very best for the future and look forward to following their adventures together.

We're sure Linda would be proud to know her former racehorse is enjoying life and in such capable hands.
